This fund is organized and
operated exclusively for charitable purposes to assist ex-students of the Masonic Home and School of Fort Worth, Texas who are in need of financial assistance in obtaining a higher degree of education. This will
be in the form of scholarships. All the
funds available for McCaulay grants are provided by
former students of the Masonic Home. The income of this fund is derived primarily from contributions, bequests and interest income. The Fund has a proud history of having helped many students achieve their
educational goals. Any money provided for education
by the Masonic Home is provided by the Masons of
Texas, and applicants are strongly encouraged to seek
financial assistance from the Home in addition to the
McCaulay grants.
The deadlines are: July 1 for the Fall Semester and December 1 for the Spring
Semester and May 1 for Summer Semesters and will be
strictly enforced.
The procedures are as follows:
1. Interview: The applicant must call one of the
current board members before the cut-off date for each semester in order to schedule an interview with one of the current board members.
This interview will be, whenever possible, face-to-face. Telephone interviews are acceptable if the applicant is out of state or lives too far away to facilitate a face-to-face
interview.
2. Application: The applicant shall
before the interview mail, e-mail or fax a completed application form
to the Scholarship Chairman. For each semester,
these forms must include fully completed application,
income/expense report, a copy of last year's filed tax
return, and essay and be received by the Chairman in
time for the board member to receive the forms prior
to the interview (suggest the interview be a minimum
of one week after receipt of the complete application
by the Scholarship Chairman).
3. Income/Expense Report: The
application shall include a completed income/expense report
and copy of last year's filed tax return. The income and expense
report should be consistent in that the income and
expense should be monthly or by semester.
4. Essay: The applicant shall include a separate, typed 250-word essay explaining the
following: Major and current status, past semester's
academic achievements, career goals and steps to
achieve those goals, and describe where the applicant
sees himself in five years. The impression this essay conveys to the committee is important.
5.
Grades & Registration: The applicant shall provide grade
reports as soon as possible from the last semester
and a copy of the completed registration for the
semester applied to the Scholarship Chairman. The grade reports
and registration must be received and examined prior to the release of funds for the next semester. Only full-time
students will be considered for the full scholarship
amount.
There is no set amount of funds guaranteed
semester to semester. The scholarship amount is
determined by the board and may vary due to factors
that include the number of applicants and available
funds. If assistance is needed regarding these
procedures, contact any board member.
